Jonny Goode's
'This is England' - London Tour
Day 4, Thursday 13 September 2012
OK, so what happened on Thursday? OnFM cancelled due to technical issues at the station, which was a real downer because the radio show promised to be good fun. Jonny busked at Victoria Station in the morning, we met Francis Ions for coffee (hope you like the CD!), sneaked up onto the hotel roof and shot a music video (have to wait till after the tour for that one to be posted on Youtube!), and then had a stonking show at Bar Solo in the evening.
I don't think the term 'character' quite describes Micky P. He is unique, very good at what he does, and pays meticulous attention to the detail. The show ran like clockwork, the acts were prepared, the staff a real pleasure to work with, and the soundman did a great job despite being dropped into it at the last moment. Anke's really entertaining, Scott McMahon superb and Little Queenie a true revelation.
If you are ever in the Camden area, look out for The Guinea Club at Bar Solo, 20 Inverness Street, Camden Town, NW1 7HJ. Here is their website.
Did I say that this was a good show? I think an artist can dine off an evening like this for months, putting up with endless disappointment for just another fix. It was that good!

I know you want to see the pictures now, but I'd like to share with you a little insight into a day on Jonny's tour.
Jonny and I are up at 7am. Shower, tidy the hotel room, pack the kit and go down for breakfast. Jonny goes off to busk or meet the music industry, usually leaving before 8am. There's a 8-10am slot, a 10 till noon slot, and then off to lunch at the nearest Weatherspoons.
Back in the hotel I charge the camera batteries, process the photos and video from the night before, answer emails, do admin and hopefully post this page by 11am. Jonny and I meet for lunch, discuss the morning and any contacts we need to follow up, and jump into the afternoon activities. By 5.30pm we'll return to the hotel for a shower and to prepare the kit for the evening show.
At 6.15pm we catch the tube to the station nearest the venue, walk the remaining distance, meet the promoter and soundman, do a sound check and check lighting and cameras. The event usually starts at 8.30, we stay for the whole show out of respect to the other artists, get the last train just before midnight, grab a quick bite to eat, shower and climb into bed by 1am.
It's a strenuous schedule. No need to visit the gym either, with perhaps 30 flights of stairs a day, 2-5 miles of walking, standing most of the day, and each carrying 30-50lbs of equipment!
OK, enough waffle and on with the pictures... ...just click on them to view in a separate window.
