29 Mar 2009: Running through Leeds, the River Aire has carved a picturesque valley that has provided quite a few photographic locations. This view is from the beacon above Calverley Garth, and takes in the panorama from Calverley Woods on the distant left to Headingly on the distant right.

21 Mar 2009: Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, Otley is a small commuter town to the north of Leeds and the birthplace of cabinet maker Thomas Chippendale. The weekend market takes place near the square, where the Jubilee Clock carrying a Belgian refugee memorial plaque stands sentinel. A grab-shot, this picture was taken wih a Nikon D700 and a Hartblei 35mm f/2.8 Super-Rotator tilt-shift lens set at f/4 and with 8 degrees tilt to the right (what a mouthful).

01 Mar 2009: Situated at the confluence of the Humber and Trent near Goole, Blacktoft Sands bird sanctuary has a number of large hides nd quite a variety of species. Pictures on the day included this wigeon, marsh harrier, tufted duck, geese and even a weasel who was too quick to photograph properly. This picture was taken with a Nikon D300 and my 'new' Nikkor AI-s 800mm manual focus lens.

02 Feb 2009: Evening snow above Calverley Garth. The snow had piled up all day and it seemed like a good idea to catch the snowfalls. The wind was driving however, and the lens caught a lot of flakes. Reflected sodium street lights give the scene an orange glow.
